Emilio Marroquin

Emilio Marroquin

Emilio Marroquin (b. 2000, Guadalajara, Mexico) is an artist working within drawing. His work combines observations from his everyday life with a hard-edge, reductivist language. This negotiation between diaristic source-material and geometrical abstraction is distilled down to a duality: authenticity and artifice.

He holds a BFA from Malmö Art Academy, and in 2024 he joined the class of Judith Hopf at Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. His work has been featured in exhibitions at Kunst- und Kulturstiftung Opelvillen Rüsselsheim, Germany; the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, the Netherlands; Permanent Wave Machine, Copenhagen; Poush Centre d'Art, Paris, France; Gallery KHM, Malmö; Kunsthall Oslo, Norway, among others. His writing has been published in Frieze Magazine and Flash Art International. He lives and works in Frankfurt am Main.
